My approach

I have a creative, integrative approach to my work, which is individually tailored to each person and their goals for therapy. In addition to building an understanding of the situations and circumstances which may be leading to distress or overwhelm, I help people develop a personalised “toolkit” of coping skills and strategies to help them cope both now and far beyond the therapy journey. To do this, I draw upon my experience and understanding of several evidence-based therapies, including:

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy focuses on developing an understanding of current difficulties and making changes based on the inter-connection of thoughts, feelings and behaviour.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy focuses on skills such as mindfulness and acceptance of human experience, alongside commitment to values-based living in order to enhance psychological flexibility.

A compassion focused approach aims to enhance mental and emotional wellbeing by fostering a sense of compassion, which can help reduce shame and self-criticism and improve emotional regulation.

EMDR is a therapeutic approach commonly used to treat the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It focuses on helping to process negative beliefs, emotions, images and bodily sensations associated with traumatic experiences in order to reduce distress and improve recovery from trauma.
